Ride or Die? Not I

After a long hiatus I have returned! Ok, so that was a bit overly dramatic. Anyhow, let’s get down to business. About two weeks ago, I read about a woman who won the lottery and used $9 million of her winnings to bail her boyfriend out of jail. Now, I’m sure many of you are on either side of the fence on this one. One side thinks that she’s dedicated to her boyfriend and that it shows how much she loves him or that she’ll “hold him down” as folks are saying these days. Then there’s the other side who asks why she’d do something like this when it was his actions that got him locked up in the first place. Of course, she said that it’s her money to do with as she pleases, and that is true. However, it is not something I would have done. Quite frankly, if I won millions of dollars in the lottery, that money would not go to bailing a man out of jail. Some of you might think “Well, I guess Lauren isn’t down for her man. She’s not a ride or die chick.” Damn right I’m not. I’m not a “ride or die” kind of woman. If you screw up, you’re on your own. Gents, when you get locked up, don’t call your lady friend and ask her to put up HER money to get YOU out of jail. You got yourself in this mess, you can get yourself out of it. It’s just that simple. It’s a little thing called personal responsibility. It’s not that hard to figure out. For the men who have done this, make a plan to pay your lady friend back. It’s only right.
